Keldeo will likely become available through some type of free-to-play method at some point, but it’s not clear when. Once you start the Special Research, it will be unlocked permanently, so there won’t be any rush to complete it. The Research quest was released on Wednesday, 30th September.
If you do not do this, you will not get the research. The Pokémon Go special research questline is called The Feeling of Victory and will allow players to encounter the Mythical Victini.
POKEMON GO VICTORY SPECIAL RESEARCH SERIES
The series is called The Feeling of Victory, and, according to The Silph Road subreddit, it has six different sets of tasks to complete. In addition to this, you’ll need to actually open the game and accept the research some time between Dec. Trainers, a new series of Special Research tasks is available to complete in Pokemon Go.
To get the “Something Extraordinary” Special Research Task set (and Keldeo), you’ll need to buy the $7.99 ticket in the shop.
